The Netherlands have added 1.76GW of solar photovoltaic installed capacity in the first half of 2024

According to official data from the Dutch statistics agency CBS, in the first half of 2024, the Netherlands added 148,166 solar photovoltaic projects, with a newly installed capacity of 1.76GW. The Dutch solar photovoltaic installed capacity in 2024 is expected to be lower than the 4.82GW in 2023. The Netherlands have added 4.8GW of solar installed capacity in 2022, 3.7GW in 2021, and 3.9GW in 2020.

As of June 2024, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in the Netherlands has reached 26.06GW. DNE Research predicts that the cumulative installed capacity of the Netherlands will reach 59GW in 2030 and 98GW in 2035. It is expected that by 2050, the total installed capacity will be between 100 and 180GW. The forecast is largely in line with Netbeheer Nederland, the Dutch association of national and regional electricity and gas network operators.
