Solar panel price effects
The PV industry has experienced several rounds of price increases since the second half of 2020, from silicon wafer to materials such as PV glass aluminum frame and films. Between July 2020 and February 2021, prices quoted for 3.2 mm and 2 mm glass surged by more than 60% per square meter. Prices for EVA and POE encapsulant films skyrocketed by more than 40% and 10%, respectively. Prices for silver paste also rose 7%, and have since remained stubbornly high. Also recently high rising on the silicon material .The high cost of raw material put big pressure on the module prices . But it's strange there are some panels with unbelievable price, and declared it's grad A panels . How the price difference can be so huge? Are those panels good quality, with grade A cells and positive tolerance? Is the power on the sticker and datasheet correct?
Let's check below point how the price of a PV module is made, and which factors can effect the price of a PV module:
1. Raw material:
85% of the cost of PV module are from the raw material. 60% of the material cost is from the cells. One reason that can explain the huge price difference between PV modules is the difference in the raw material used. Every manufacturer will mention that their panels are Grade A, But it’s important to check below point to see if they can reach the real grad A .
Cells: Cells efficiency used, to check if they could reach the your request power.
EVA: Thickness, weight, light transmittance
Glass: Anti-reflective coating, light transmittance
Junction box: IP rate
Cable: Length, diameter
2. Panels power:
Low price PV module normally is to increase the power on the sticker or to use -/+ tolerance but to don't mention it to customers.
