The French photovoltaic (PV) market has long been known for its stringent access criteria, and carbon footprint certification stands as a major high barrier for enterprises. As an authoritative certification implemented by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE), its access requirements for PV projects with a capacity of over 100kW are regarded as an industry benchmark, causing many module manufacturers to miss out on opportunities in the French market for failing to meet the standards. Recently, Sunpro's TOPCon bifacial double-glass modules have successfully obtained the PPE2 carbon footprint certification from Certisolis, a prestigious French authority. With an outstanding low-carbon performance, the modules have earned official recognition in the French market, demonstrating Sunpro's strong capabilities in green manufacturing.
Since the French CRE project bidding and tendering implemented the latest PPE2 carbon footprint calculation standards, the certification difficulty has increased significantly, imposing higher requirements on PV enterprises' life-cycle emission reduction capabilities. Adhering strictly to the ISO 14040/14044 life cycle assessment framework, the standards conduct a full traceability of the carbon emission trajectory of modules from raw material extraction, production and manufacturing to finished product delivery. It serves as a core benchmark for measuring the green attributes of products and a green pass for enterprises to enter the French market.
France's PPE2 (Plaque de Production d'Électricité) carbon footprint certification is a core qualification requirement for PV projects in France to participate in bidding and connect to the grid for power generation. It adopts the rigorous "Simplified Carbon Assessment (ECS)" methodology and fully tracks the life-cycle carbon emissions of modules from raw material extraction, production and manufacturing to finished product delivery, with its certification standards and processes leading the world. Sunpro's success in obtaining two versions of the certification this time not only proves the industry-leading position of its products in carbon emission control, but also means that Sunpro's modules fully meet the bidding and grid-connection requirements for both rooftop and ground-mounted PV projects in France, laying a solid foundation for further deepening its presence in the French market.
The excellent carbon footprint performance stems from Sunpro's green layout across the entire industrial chain: 100% traceability of core raw materials, the adoption of a combined model of low-carbon processes and recycled materials for polysilicon, and lean consumption control at production bases for all links including silicon wafers, cells and modules.
