Italy: 65% of electricity generation will come from renewable energy sources in 2030

In the latest proposal of Italy’s Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) stated that by 2030, 65% of Italy’s electricity generation will come from renewable energy sources. It is also planned that by the end of this century, 40% of total energy demand and 65% of electricity consumption will come from renewable energy. Under the plan, renewable energy will account for 37% of the cooling and heating industry, 31% of the transport sector and 42% of hydrogen production capacity for industrial use. Supported by relevant policies, Italy's rooftop solar market more than doubled last year. The Italian government has simplified the application process and provided more than $200 million in funding for rooftop PV deployment in early 2022.
